This Collector’s edition is printed in 55 numbered and signed copies. it includes the book and a leather-bound case. The cover is adorned with a sculpted head of Dionysus in relief designed especially for this collectors’ edition.
The book includes 160 photographs by the internationally-renowned Greek photographer Nelly’s (1899-1998) depicting the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Olympia and Delphi as well as Ancient Corinth and Aegina. Most of the material, which is from the Benaki Museum Photographic Archive, is in print for the first time.
Introductory chapters are written by Dimitris Philippides, Stelios Lydakis and Alkis Xanthakis about the art of photography, the cameras and the perception of antiquities in the 1920s and 1930s.
